• There are many different types of gloves, from latex, vinyl, or terrycloth: different types of gloves offer your hands protection from cuts, burns, chemical interactions, heat, and viruses and other fomites. In the context of SARS-CoV-2, wearing gloves will come when you are disinfecting an item or are caring for someone vulnerable/sick.
  • Disposable gloves can be worn when carrying out a transaction as well. For example, when doing your grocery shopping or when you need to decontaminate your reusable masks. However, ensure that you throw away your gloves immediately after use, such as when you have finished your shopping and are exiting the store, or when you have finished cleaning your mask. Likewise, gloves can be worn in places where you are not able to wash your hands, which will ensure your hands stay clean.
  • Be sure to change your disposable gloves frequently. Prolonged use of the same gloves can increase the spread of pathogens. It is not recommended to wear gloves outside of these instances as they may not necessarily protect you from contracting SARS-CoV-2.
